Summer to fall transition

8/23/08 2:59 PM

In about 10 days classes will start. When classes start, we move off our leisurely once-a-week summer production and move into the hectic schedule of publishing daily. I'm excited and nervous for the school year to start. I'm excited because this is my last year ⎯ hopefully ⎯ and I feel like I've got a faily decent schedule lined up. I'm nervous because I remember how difficult it was to go from a weekly paper to a daily paper last fall. I'm not saying I don't think the staff can handle it, I know they can. They're an amazing, talented and smart group. But somehow, despite spades of talent and know-how, people seem to stress out a lot once we go daily. It's been in the works since winter but thanks to a wonderful group of people including staffers, advisers and the team at College Publisher, we're running live. I couldn't be more excited. We are the first school to launch with CP5. It's a huge honor for this small, Cal State Long Beach newspaper and I'm sure the rest of the staff will agree when I say, thank you College Publisher! I'm still in shock from waking up this morning to see the website launched, but I hope you will all take a look around, try out the multimedia center and keep checking back for updates. We might print weekly in the summer, but it's my goal to update the website as often as possible. Stay tuned for more videos, broadcasts, podcasts,... 0 comment
