The Long Beach State men's golf team completed Day 1 at the second annual Battle at the Beach tournament in 11th place at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast. Both the Long Beach State men's and women's golf teams will open the spring season as hosts of local tournaments next week. Results The Long Beach State men's golf team wrapped up its final fall tournament with an 11th-place finish at the Gifford Collegiate Championship in San Mateo, Calif., on Wednesday. The 49ers' trip to Dallas was cut short by heavy rain and lightning, which cancelled the final round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate on Tuesday. The Long Beach State women's golf team wrapped up the Lamkin Grip Invitational by improving its score by 13 strokes to finish in third place on Tuesday.
