Senior Colin Dunbar won the men's hammer throw to highlight the first day of the annual VS Athletics Beach Invitational Friday afternoon at Cerritos College. The Long Beach State men's track and field team broke a meet record with 223.5 points for its fourth consecutive Big West Conference Challenge Cup victory Friday at Anteater Stadium in Irvine. Freshman Heath Reedy highlighted the first day of the Stanford Invitational for the Long Beach State track and field team as he won his section of the men's 5000-meter run Friday in Palo Alto, Calif. Sam Jeter and Katrina Graves-Johnson both picked up individual victories in San Diego to highlight the Long Beach State track and field team's afternoon at the 33rd annual Aztec Invitational at SDSU Sports Deck on Saturday. A pair of Long Beach State women took home individual victories in the track and field team's season-opening meet at the Ben Brown Invitational on Saturday. The Long Beach State track and field team kicked off its season-opening outdoor meet with the hammer throw at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton on Thursday. Colin Dunbar led the 49er men as he topped his lifetime best by 14 feet, 5 inches.
