Anyone who has been looking for a place to shop for unique one-of-a-kind clothing at decent prices is in luck.
Etsy.com is a website with several owners who advertise their shops, each with their own distinct styles.
One retailer, Fancy Disaster, is a Long Beach-based shop that displays products, such as leather boots, lacy dresses and boho tops at prices that range from around $30 to $120.
Shop owner, Stacy McDonnell, has ran her shop for three years. She opened up a physical shop in Long Beach just after having her online shop's first anniversary.
Fancy Disaster's physical shop is a vintage-based thrift store that sells clothing, shoes, accessories and housewares for men and women. Fancy Disaster is in the process of moving to a studio-based store on Fourth Street and will be available by appointment only.
Most of McDonnell's products come from estate sales, thrifting, antique markets or raiding her family member's closets. Her shop offers both women's and men's clothing, accessories, shows, and home goods.
"I love it when items have a story," McDonnell said. "[It has] a lil' bit of everything so I don't go crazy."
McDonnell named her shop after her own perception of her life. She said she believes her friends and herself still put fashion before real-life.
"The joke was that all of [my friends and I] looked like a million bucks and dressed as if we had a million bucks," she said. Fancy — but we couldn't pay the rent on time or our [cellphones] would get turned off... disaster."
To view McDonnell's items, visit etsy.com/shop/fancydisaster. Fancy Disaster is currently having a huge inventory sale that will run until mid October with $2 items located in the front of the store, along with a 70% off rack. Along with the inventory sale are some great Halloween concepts to create costumes and to score some unique garments, hand-made jewelry and retro accessories. Currently, Fancy Disaster's physical store is located at 218 Atlantic Ave. The re-locating address will be 1409 4th St.
