University Police responded to a disturbance in Parking Lot 14 on Sunday at 3 a.m., University Police Lt. Richard Goodwin said.

A young male was found yelling at a female and trying to force himself into her car, Goodwin said. Two other males, who were possibly intoxicated, were also at the scene, he said.

The incident did not turn into a domestic dispute and no arrests were made, Goodwin said.

Car accident near campus breaks streetlights

A car crashed into a power box near the intersection of Atherton Street and Merriam Way, causing streetlights to stop working, Goodwin said. The accident happened on Friday at 3:24 p.m., he said.

The Long Beach Fire Department and paramedics arrived on scene, along with the Long Beach Police Department and University Police, Goodwin said.

No injuries were recorded, Goodwin said.

Man arrested for public intoxication

A 50-year-old man, who fell and hit his head while trying to get into his vehicle in Parking Lot 13, was arrested for public intoxication, Goodwin said.

A parking officer who saw the man called police at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 27, Goodwin said.

The man said that he was “only trying to turn on the radio,” but when police arrived he was taken into custody along with his car keys, Goodwin said. The man is only being charged on public intoxication charges, he said.
