Cars stolen from campus, one recovered in L.A.

A two-door black Acura was stolen from Parking Structure 2 at 2:53 p.m. on April 29 and later recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday, University Police Lt. Richard Goodwin said.

The car was found at the LAPD without damages or missing plates, Goodwin said. There are no suspects in the case, he said.

A 1994 black Honda Civic was also stolen around 1:04 p.m. on April 29 from Parking Structure 1, Goodwin said. There are no suspects, he said.

Goodwin said that only the parking lots have video cameras, but the parking structures do not.

“We will probably get [the cameras] soon, but there is no timeframe,” Goodwin said.

Grand theft at Parkside College

A backpack containing a MacBook Pro was stolen from Parkside College around 6:47 p.m. on Monday, Goodwin said.

The laptop was stolen when it was left unattended in the dining hall, he said.

The backpack is a black Hersche, and the MacBook has a pink case, Goodwin said. The estimated loss is about $1,260 and there are no suspects, he said.

Student threatens to hurt herself

A female student threatened to cut herself in the Parkside Commons building on May 2, Goodwin said.

University Police were contacted after the student made threats around 11:17 a.m., he said. The cuts were not bleeding and did not require medical attention, he said.

The student was referred to Counseling and Psychological Services, he said.

Fire at Psychology Building

A small fire broke out in the mulch area near the Psychology Building on May 1, Goodwin said.

University Police extinguished the fire at 4:21 p.m., and no assistance from the Long Beach Fire Department was needed, he said.

Laptop stolen from Parking Structure 1

A student’s MacBook Pro was stolen at 2:56 p.m. on April 29 while left unattended on top of a parking machine inside Parking Structure 1, Goodwin said.

There are no suspects in case, he said.

Car broken into in Parking Structure 1

A purse and other items were stolen from a car inside Parking Structure 1, Goodwin said.

Someone broke into the car sometime on April 28, and the items were reported stolen at 8:33 a.m. on April 29, he said.
