Public Policy Poll: U.S. voters in favor of bombing ‘Agrabah’

In a recent poll of American political opinion, there was a trick question that may have revealed a bias against cities with Arabic-sounding names.

The survey by Public Policy Polling revealed Dec. 18 that 30 percent of Republicans and 19 percent of Democrats are in favor of bombing “Agrabah,” the fictitious city from Disney’s “Aladdin.”

According to Disney Wiki, Agrabah is located in Arabia next to the Jordan River, the opening lyrics state. The city was inspired by Baghdad, Iraq, and the palace, its central feature, was based on the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.

The poll also indicated that Republicans are nearly divided on whether they believe thousands of Arabs cheered in New Jersey after the World Trade Center collapsed during 9/11, and almost half of Republicans think there should be a national database registering all Muslims in the United States.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump stated that he personally saw “thousands and thousands” of Arabs cheering and that the cheering was well-covered on television. Fact Check has shown there were no police records or other people who remembered such an event.

The poll comes as Trump is calling for the nation to stop allowing Muslims to enter the United States.

“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad and have no sense of reason or respect for human life,” Trump said in a statement Dec. 7.

54 percent of Republicans agree with him.

Disney did not respond to requests for comment.
