The five-day strike that was scheduled to start Wednesday has been postponed after the California Faculty Association and the California State University management reached a tentative agreement.
The two sides will hold a joint news conference Friday at 10 a.m. to announce on a “reopened contract” between CSU administration and the faculty union.
Terms were not immediately disclosed.
The tentative agreement will be voted on by the CSU Board of Trustees May 24-25 once it is ratified by the CFA membership.
On Tuesday both parties had announced a two-day blackout period as they went back to the bargaining table to hammer out an agreement.
The CFA initially scheduled the five-day strike after the CSU administration refused a 5 percent general salary increase for all CFA members as well as an additional 2.65 percent Service Salary Increase for eligible faculty.
The CSU administration had previously offered a 2 percent general salary increase.
