- People who have a moderate to evere illness and fever
Though Cal State Long Beach has not yet received the swine flu vaccine, the university has announced its process in distributing its allotment.
According to the CSULB Emergency Advisory Web page, the following will be given H1N1 vaccine priority: students living on campus or in fraternity or sorority houses, student-athletes, students with chronic medical conditions, and Student Health Services and University Police employees.
All other students are encouraged to go to their health care providers to see how they can get the vaccine.
Two students have also been recently hospitalized with the H1N1 virus, according to the Web page. Both students were released and sent home to recover. It also notes that there has been an increase of students with "influenza-like illness" coming into Student Health Services.
Initial distribution of the vaccine from the Long Beach Health Department will be limited to infants, infants' caretakers, children, pregnant women, health care workers and people from 25-64 with high-risk medical conditions, according to a press release.
The city health department has received about 20,000 vaccine doses and will hold its first community clinic Nov. 7 at the Long Beach Convention Center.
