An international student who was enrolled at Cal State Long Beach’s American Language Institute was found in Los Angeles, according to a United Arab Emirates news agency.

Majid Khalid Shuhail, a student from the UAE, went missing after going to an airport Feb. 15 without boarding his flight. CSULB was alerted Feb. 19 that the student was missing.

According to an article published March 1 by the Emirates News Agency, Shuhail and his father will travel to Washington D.C. to meet with embassy officials on their way back to the UAE.

Shuhail’s father had come to the U.S. to search for his son.

The article reports that “U.S. officials have been helpful throughout the search effort and at no point was Majid subjected to any harassment whatsoever.”

According GulfNews.com, a news Web site from Shuhail’s home country, Shuhail informed the UAE embassy that he did not want to study in the United States.

Lynne Richmond, director of the CSULB institute, described Shuhail as “pretty quiet.”

Toni Beron, CSULB’s associate vice president of university relations, said Shuhail is no longer enrolled in the American Language Institute at CSULB.
