Laptops gone missing
Three more laptops were taken on March 22 during a small time frame, University Police Capt. Fernando Solorzano said.
A woman's MacBook laptop was taken from an office in the Academic Services building, Room 201, between 3:15-3:20 p.m., Solorzano said. The woman left her laptop on the desk she was working on and came back to her office, when she discovered that it had been taken. The estimated value of the MacBook was $1,400.
A man had his Dell laptop taken from Peterson Hall 2, Room 215, between 4:10-4:30 p.m., Solorzano said. The man left his laptop in the room to go to the University Library. When he returned, he discovered that his laptop had been taken. It was navy blue and had a 15-inch screen. The value of the laptop was $800.
A man's silver MacBook was taken from the Fine Arts 3 building, Room 105, between 3:40-3:50 p.m., Solorzano said. The MacBook was in a computer bag on a desk in an unsecured office. The man reported seeing an Asian man in his early 20s with a medium build and short black hair. The laptop, which was property of Cal State Long Beach and state-issued, was valued at $1,400.
Students are urged to keep valuable belongings with them at all times. Solorzano said they should not leave any valuable possessions unattended.
Bikes continue to be stolen
Three more bikes were stolen in the last two weeks, Solorzano said.
A man had his 26-inch-frame Trek bike stolen on March 21 from the north bike racks at the Social Sciences/Public Administration building, Solorzano said. The bike was locked with a cable lock at the time it was taken. The estimated loss of value for the bike was $850.
A woman had her GT Zoom bike taken from the bike racks on the south side of the Language Arts 1 building on March 24 between 11 a.m.-9 p.m, Solorzano said. The woman used a cable lock to secure her bike when it was stolen. The estimated value for the bike was $225.
A man's Schwinn bike was stolen from the bike racks in Parking Lot 15 on March 24, between 2-4:30 p.m., Solorzano said. When the man returned to his bike, he found his cable lock cut and on the ground, and his bike was gone. The estimated loss of value of the bike was $300.
Woman arrested at Board of Trustees meeting
A woman was arrested at the Board of Trustees meeting at the Chancellor's Office on March 22, Solorzano said.
University Police originally received a call about the woman due to her alleged disorderly conduct during the meeting.
Once police arrived, they discovered that the woman had an outstanding warrant for $100,000 by the city of Long Beach. She was arrested and booked in the Long Beach jail. It was unclear if the woman had any affiliation to CSULB.
Vandal spray paints birthday wishes in elevator
Black spray paint with the words "happy birthday" was found inside an elevator door in the Academic Services building on March 26, Solorzano said. The time of the vandalism is unknown, but a community service officer discovered the spray paint around 9 p.m., Solorzano said.
