Letter to the Editor- ASI acts shameful

I am a pretty avid reader of the Forty-Niner, but I never saw any articles about the amendments to the ASI bylaws.

When I read the proposed changes, “wow” was my only response. I felt like they were trying to pull the wool over our eyes. One of them wanted to amend the bylaws so they do not have to come to us for a vote to amend the bylaws. Shame on them!

I think for the next election, they should send everyone an e-mail or something in the mail to the extent of what we have in every election; a voter guide with everything that will be on the ballot.

How dare they try to pull a quick one by un-educating us and expecting to use fancy language to get what they want. This is why I do not play the government game here at Cal State Long Beach, they are all corrupt, looking for power and I do not feel like playing the drama game. Shame on them!

First of all David, ‘Your Name’ is correct. The amendment was directed for house-keeping changes like grammatical errors. Second, you need to really look into the organization before making extreme accusations like ‘they are all corrupt.’ David, I don’t think you should judge what you don’t know. I don’t think you know much time and effort everyone in ASI works for students. If you have any questions, concerns, and/or issues about ASI or what ASI does for students, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]

I think you misunderstood that amendment. I’m pretty sure it stated that they could only fix grammatical errors, make changes to update titles and to come in line with laws. I’m not a poly sci major, but it doesn’t seem like that would change anything of significance…
