Milk new symbol of hate?

When you think of milk, what first comes to your mind? If you’re a millennial, you probably think of strong bones, Got Milk? commercials, or maybe eating your favorite cereal while watching cartoons on a Saturday morning.

What about racism? White nationalism? If you’re having trouble finding the connection between these institutions and milk, you’re not alone. You, along with the rest of the nation, have been so accustomed to hearing the benefits of milk that you probably didn’t even realize the subtle racism hidden in our health facts.

It may not surprise you that the United States was founded on racism. That every institution we uphold has racist roots that are sometimes difficult to catch and even harder to fight against. This phenomenon affects our voter ID laws, state testing and,  yes, even our federal dietary guidelines. But how can our health guidelines, a system meant to be built upon scientific fact alone, have racist messages? Where there is a deep-rooted tradition to suppress an entire race’s existence, there’s a way.

The federal endorsement of milk in American diets contributes to the problem by uncritically pushing people to drink milk, despite the potential detriment it has on non-white people’s health.

Our current federal dietary guidelines urge people to drink three cups of milk a day, according to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The main health benefit of milk is to guard against osteoporosis, a disease that weakens your bones — hence the “stronger bones” rhetoric. While this is a very practical health benefit, osteoporosis affects Africans at a significantly lower rate than it does most Americans, according to an article on Mother Jones.

These facts about milk were brought to attention by a scientific magazine that got trickled down into the world of 4chan, where the facts were distorted and exaggerated to fit a racist rhetoric for white supremacy. The online trollers decided to take their milk jugs to the public using Shia LaBeouf’s social experiment livestream project, “He Will Not Divide Us,” which began as a protest against President Donald Trump. The installation has since been shut down by the host, The Museum of Moving Images, for being being “a serious and ongoing public safety hazard,” according to a February article by USA Today.

This is the basis that white supremacist milk chuggers used for their bring-your-own-milk-jug party using Shia LaBeouf’s camera to advance their hateful message. In an effort to prove their masculinity, a dozen middle-aged white men showed up shirtless, shouting about how they need to “secure the future of our diet and the future for milk drinking.” One man proudly displayed his neo-Nazi tattoo while spitting milk into the livestream camera.

This odd form of white supremacy also received cinematic attention through Jordan Peele’s horror movie “Get Out,” a movie that highlights racism in a post-racial America. Peele artistically addresses the new medium of hate with one of the film’s most eerie scenes, which shows a white woman meticulously sipping milk from a bendy straw. The scene would have gone unnoticed in the movie, but audiences were forced to notice the long, drawn-out frame of the woman taking a sip; Peele wanted people to notice.

These seemingly coincidental acts of racism are backed by the way milk continues to be represented in American diets.

The Mother Jones article states that not only is milk non-beneficial to Africans, but following the guidelines may actually be detrimental to their health. There is a strong correlation to calcium consumption and an increased risk of prostate cancer, unproportionally affecting African men. Furthermore, both black children and adults generally secrete less calcium on a daily basis than white people, making them less dependent upon milk.

Remember that this is the dietary guidelines for Americans. I want to emphasize that last word. These guidelines are for Americans. This means they should reflect the health needs of the ethnicities that make up America which, news flash, isn’t just white people. And since the African American community in the U.S. is continuously rising, it seems only logical to acknowledge that while something may be beneficial for one group of people, that may not be the case for another.

These differences are now leaving the world of health and spilling into our political and social lives. Milk has now become a symbol of racial superiority for white nationalists and neo-Nazis, claiming that their ability to process milk makes them racially superior.

That Peele came up with the idea for the scene days before shooting began, not knowing that the release of his movie would be perfectly timed with the sudden rise of interest for milk among white supremacists, is proof that the connection between milk and white supremacy is gaining visibility.

“That scene is just one of my favorites,” Peele told the LA Times. “There’s no dialogue in it — just this beautiful psychotic image that gives me glee when it happens in the film.”

The milk scene in “Get Out,” along with LaBeouf’s livestream, turned what started out as internet trolling into yet another form of nonsensical white superiority. And while there is little logic to the train of thoughts involved in choosing the next inanimate face of racism, our country’s health guidelines certainly take part of the blame for this one.

Until we recognize the racist roots in our own systems of government and fight to remove them, we are all in part responsible for the white, creamy form of racism currently taking hold in our country.

This isn’t really a new thing, has anyone seen American History X? Milk is white, they are white… Their logic is really that simple…

If you wanted a reaction you certainly got it. So by extension though, are all foods that are naturally white, not those that are artificially created, racist as well? You might want to take a step back and just sit down, have a Snickers or something.

I tried to take this seriously, I did, however, even if the Mother Jones article is true, and I assume it is, for the majority of Americans, just approximately 87.7% of the country, milk is still beneficial as the article only claims Blacks have a detrimental effect from drinking milk, making no claims with those of Arabic, Asian, or Native American descent, omitting those of European descent like Whites and Hispanics (at least mixed descendants of Spanish settlers) as these two most likely have similar dietary needs.
Frankly, this article better be nothing more than a joke, because I fear for the world if people that think this way ever have power. The way this article is laid out can be compared to looking at one face of a 20-sided die in that she focused solely on a single point of a multi-faceted issue in a way that looks to be a cry for attention.

Wow! Racially politicizing food now. Milk has harmful ingredients for everyone, not just people with lots of melanin. I’m a student of Dr T. Colin Campbell, and Dr. McDougall for over a year now. These two doctors have over 45 years of nutrition science and health research experience, each, over ninety years combined, and one thing from their research is clear–Milk promotes our most common chronic diseases, including osteoporosis, but also breast cancer, and other diseases and debilitating conditions. It isn’t any safer for people of lighter skin, than for people of darker skin. The misinformation promoted by our Government, via the National Dairy Council, and the USDA is equal opportunity misinformation. https://www.drmcdougall.com/2014/11/01/got-milk-got-disease/

You know, I think I read about a person with the surname Diaz committing a crime not too long ago in my local paper….therefore, anyone with the surname Diaz must be a criminal if I follow your thinking.

“These facts about milk were brought to attention by a scientific magazine that got trickled down into the world of 4chan”. Yet, no mention of the magazine or article title so we can check it out for ourselves? Hate to break this to you, but, just because you read it on the internet does NOT make it a fact ;=)

Maybe if the media would stop stretching to create a racial divide, there would be less racism? I see racism in reporting all the time! How many times do I hear that a black man robbed a store or a Hispanic man did this or did that as if their race made any difference? Why not just say a ‘man’ did this or a ‘man’ did that? Oh, because the media promotes racism as that’s what sells their papers, ads, etc….got to keep people fighting amongst themselves so we don’t realize that we’ve been sold out by politicians and big business.

Maybe if I drink chocolate milk from now on I won’t be considered a racist. Or, maybe I will just disregard your silly theory and go have a nice tall glass of white supremacist milk as that is what I grew up drinking.

Your article 100% misconstrues ALL of the facts that you base everything off of, especially in that Mother Jones article you reference (but don’t link to at all, because if people actually read it, they’d realize how full of nonsense this whole op-ed is). Your evidence isn’t only circumstantial, but isn’t even directly related, which instead you use theoretical psychological concepts that you conjured up specifically to make your point, when that isn’t how science works at all. Most mammal species rely on its mother’s milk to get necessary nutrients, but its racist. It’s literally science that a calcium deficiency, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU HAVE A GENETIC DEVELOPMENT TO HELP SURVIVE WITH LOW CALCIUM DIETS, leads to osteoporosis, which is curbed by ensuring enough calcium is taken. Milk and dairy products are FAR AND AWAY the cheapest and effective mode of delivering calcium outside of a calcium supplement pill, which milk is cheaper than.

“despite the potential detriment it has on non-white people health.” THIS IS COMPLETE SPECULATION AND ISN’T BASED ON FACT. AT ALL. MILK, AND THE CONSUMPTION OF IT, IS BENEFICIAL TO EVERY. SINGLE. MAMMAL. It’s science, but you ignore science, apparently. Stop embarrassing yourself, the people around you, and your school.

If your going to write about ridiculous bullshit like this, your next article should be about how Kale is a racist food. Since it’s much more beneficial to Africans than whites to help aid in sickle cell anemia although it’s said that everyone should eat it.
Way to go. Pat yourself on the back. You just added to the racist rhetoric that’s churning in this country. And only created by ignorant people like you. This country was not founded on racism. It was founded on freedom. So all cultures of any kind can come live here in FREEDOM and drink milk if they fucking want to whether it’s more or less beneficial to them or not. There is only 12% of African Americans in this country and 63% white. It makes sense that the dietary guidelines would say how beneficial milk is all around since it’s speaking vast majority. What about how there is roughly 7% of white people living in Africa? Should we pick apart their dietary guidelines and call out racism if there is a food on there that benefits more black people than white. But yet ALL is told that it’s beneficial in their diet.
If you’re going to write about important issues why don’t you write about things like how our own Vets can’t even get the help they need, or the piss poor curriculum in our public schools, or the Fukushima crisis that filling our oceans with radiation. I see that your article has been referenced by the Washington post:
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/mar/17/milk-new-symbol-racism-donald-trumps-america/

As you know, there have been many cases of injustice done due to *real* racism. There is also a long-running effort to battle racist thinking.

This battle against racism is actually undermined whenever someone makes a dubious accusation of racism. Such accusations create the impression that racism is mostly in the imagination of liberals, when it is in fact very real. In my view, this article is an example of a dubious accusation.

Your article’s subheading says: “White nationalists and neo-nazis using milk as form of racial supremacy.”

I say “So what!?”. White supremacists and neo-nazis are idiots! Why let them win? If they start using chocolate as a symbol of hate, must we all shy away from chocolate in order to avoid looking like racists?

As for Africans drinking milk, the article on WebMD indicates that African women also need calcium, and in fact they tend to consume too little of it. Part of the problem is that Africans have higher incidence of lactose intolerance. Those who can handle milk actually do benefit from it.

Oh for heaven’s sake! Of COURSE our government will put out dietary guidelines for Americans. What would be the point of the US government putting out dietary guidelines for Norwegians, Kurds, or Aboriginal Australians? And why would you NOT want the obvious dietary benefits of milk? It’s high in calcium, protein, and fats. The cow can’t help the fact that milk is white, nor can goats, pigs, or any other lactating mammal. It’s just the nature of the substance.

But what I find most disturbing is that you’re taking anything produced by Jordan Peele as serious commentary. His work is satire and silliness, often relying on hyperbole. And pointing at milk as a subtle yet sinister form of racism is hyperbole in the highest. It’s poking fun at people like yourself who look for racism in EVERYTHING, and when you don’t find it, you create racism where none existed. Pretty soon millennials like you will be going after White-Out, white paint, white teeth, and toilet paper as some sort of subtle racism.

This fascination on the liberal left with navel gazing our past and “recognizing our racist roots” makes it sound like you’re just discovering what everyone else has already known since childhood, dealt with, and moved on from. Yes, our history has plenty of dark points in it. Find me a country whose history hasn’t. That doesn’t mean that just because your generation has reached adulthood it’s time to put American society under the lash…… again…… for the deeds of generations long since turned to dust. You need to come to terms with the fact that the past can’t be changed and punishing people today over sins of the past benefits no one.

And lastly, there is no new “form of racism currently taking hold in our country”. Trump gets accused of racism all the time, yet there’s no evidence to back it up. Just innuendo and third-hand interpretations of things taken out of context. Yes, tenants claimed racism, but nothing was ever proven. There were lawsuits, none of which went anywhere. And yet, Trump received an award for his work in the black community alongside Rosa Parks and Mohammed Ali. And yet he’s called a racist anyway.

Just as he’s called a sexist despite having female executives in his organization and hiring a woman to put his campaign over the top. If Kellyanne Conway had been a Democrat campaign manager people would have lauded her for making great strides for women’s equality. But since she works for Trump, everyone throws her under the bus instead. Never mind that she’s a woman who won an election for her candidate, that “doesn’t count” apparently. (Isn’t that a subtle form of sexism? Yes, yes it is.)

You don’t have to like Trump to want him to succeed for America. I didn’t like Obama, couldn’t listen to a word the man said in fact, but I always wanted him to be successful for the people of the US. THAT is what a patriot does, they accept loss gracefully and work with the victor to make things better. Unfortunately that kind of manners is lost on Democrats and their supporters these days as they obstruct cabinet appointments and launch “resist” rallies to do everything they can to sabotage Trump.

You may not like what past generations did in the name of our country, but I don’t think future generations are going to be anymore forgiving to millennials for throwing a spanner in the works just to see Trump fail. Because if he fails, so does America. We’re all on the same plane, and you’re tying up the pilots.

This the most racist asinine writer I have seen today, who uses a food product as a divisive means to stir up more division between Americans. Samantha Diaz, a writer for California State University-Long Beach’s (CSULB) newspaper is using the socialist agenda to split us apart. She adds to the crisis we now have from the lefts constant lies, intolerance and out right hate on opposing views to the extant that they are using violence, attacking and beating the opposition. The first amendment has been under attacked by her and the left to silence anyone who has any common sense by using personal attacks by demeaning your character, calling you a racist, insults and anything else that allows them to change the narrative when the questions become hard to answerer. Some of the educated socialist elitist will also belittle you if you don’t have a degree, by calling you out for an misspelled word or sentence structure when you oppose their agenda just make fun of you and to not answerer a question. These people have been brainwashed with the open borders, globalist one world government lies along with the communist professors who are the worst offenders of these lies. Sad

My goodness. We’re now attaching racism to beverages, are we? Out of curiosity, would this extend to chocolate milk as well? (Oh, sorry…that term has probably been designated a microaggression by now. I probably should have said Milk of Color. Better?)

There’s an old saying: “If you go looking for trouble, you’ll surely find it.” The same principle applies to pretty much every negative aspect of life, and this ludicrous claim of yours is no exception. If you’re among those who are eternally determined to find new and exciting examples of racism, sooner or later you’ll find them — even if you have to take this sort of “Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon” approach.

I’ve got news for you, cupcake. Contrary to what those of your ilk believe, the United States was not “founded on racism.” I mean, come on…read a book. You’d be hard-pressed to find any credible data to support the idea that the pursuit of white supremacy was anyone’s primary motivator for coming to the New World. Were there elements of racism in our history? Sure…just as there have been and still are in societies all over the world. Is there racism still? You bet. From my perspective, though, it doesn’t manifest itself as white people jumping out of bed in the morning wondering how to best marginalize some other race. In this country at least, it now come from people like you, who make staggeringly idiotic claims in an effort to keep the fires of racial division burning high and hot. So please, if you can’t be part of the solution, at least stop trying so hard to be part of the problem.

Why was there the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the EEOC, the 13th through 15th Amendment, and the ADA? Furthermore, what Neo-Nazis do is irrelevant. Neo-Nazis love getting tattoos, does that mean everyone with tattoos a Neo-Nazis? They love shaving their heads. Guess what? Plenty of blacks and whites shave their heads, they’re not Neo-Nazis.

So, let me begin by saying -I’m a white man. I’m privileged, and I admit it. I believe completely that there is rampant institutional racism is most aspects of our culture in this country. I don’t deny that for a second. It’s 100% truth. I like to think I do what I can when I see it. I probably don’t do enough. I feel guilty about that. I should. But in this case I have to disagree. It’s not possible for milk to be a racist institution in this country, even though recent studies may indicate that milk may be unhealthy to people of African decent. The first time the federal government advised on milk was 1916. (reference https://www.cnpp.usda.gov/FGP4Children)
I don’t think for a second that they wouldn’t have advised that despite knowing that it damaged the biology of people of African decent. They didn’t know it yet though. That study was originally submitted in 2015, accepted in 2016 reference: ( http://www.nature.com/bonekeyreports/2016/160629/bonekey201630/full/bonekey201630.html) In conclusion, so while i’m with you. (and am, as much as I can) I think calling milk institutional racism is incorrect. Thanks for listening to my ramble. feel free to email if you want to continue the conversation.

Instead of Mother Jones that author should have spoken with someone from the Nutrition & Dietetics department. Drinking milk isn’t just for bones. African Americans gain a lot from drinking milk. Dairy products reduce risk of heart disease, hypertension, obesity and Type 2 diabetes – diseases that affect African-Americans at disproportionate rates. Milk and other dairy products such as yogurt and cheese are naturally nutrient-rich foods providing calcium, potassium, other minerals and vitamins, and protein which are essential for human growth and development. What is more racist is the author of bad opinion articles, which cause African Americans to avoid proper nutrition.

  131. Avatar

I hope you kids can eventually get a refund on your tuition.

  132. Avatar

The Mother Jones article on this matter also quoted the Women’s Global Health Institute at Purdue University, an expert institution on osteoporosis, as saying she “doesn’t think African Americans should consume less dairy.”

That aside, the premise of your article/essay (whatever you wish to call it) is simple propaganda, even if you do not know it; you are a usable tool by those who would destroy freedom because you are impressionable and naïve (yes you are, trust me, and one day you will realize that). The ideology behind the twisting of young minds will fail, just as it has all over the world, throughout the history of the world. That ideology drives wedges (despite that you’ve been convinced that it brings everyone to an open-minded embracing of one another), because without divisiveness, that ideology is not useful or desirable. It offers to solve a problem that’s not there, except for it’s making the problem appear. Think about that.

Put out full stories, both sides of an argument, rather than red herrings and straw men. It’ll serve you well later in life. The way you are now viewing both sides, but only willing to put forth that which supports your own view of a matter will not serve you well in your future. Good luck.

This is the worst piece of “journalism” I’ve read this year thus far. Actually, if I could include last year, I’m pretty sure it would top that as well. Who’s raising these shockingly ignorant sheep to believe such nonsense? I actually had to check to make sure it wasn’t April 1st (April fools day) to make sure this wasn’t a prank! Who’s creating this whole generation of kids who want nothing more than to sit around, cry racism at every opportunity and play the victim card at every chance they get? This piece is a prime example of why you can’t automatically assume college students have any sort of common sense or intelligence. Did this “author” (and I use that term very loosely) do ANY sort of research before writing such a racist commentary meant only to cause even more divisiveness? Creating yet another torch in the unjustified racist witch hunt against Caucasians? Because 2 seconds of an internet search shows that Africans, especially the Maasai, have been drinking milk since cattle were introduced – and without any US governmental involvement! I can imagine this young lady’s parents cried reading this, realizing all the hard earned money they wasted to educate their daughter was instead used to create a completely worthless member of society. My heart breaks for them. I can’t imagine the immense disappointment.

Colleges which used to create intelligent, self reliant adults are now instead creating a whole generation of whiny special snowflakes who believe they’re defeated before they even try. You’d think someone at this college would have done some editing to assure no submissions were published that made the college look foolish, but it seems someone dropped the ball. Maybe that’s something they need to look into. As for this sadly ignorant young lady, I fear her indoctrination into victimization is irreversible. She’ll always see herself fighting against some made up force working against her, and will use that as an excuse whenever she fails. She’ll always see the world (and ALL Caucasians) as racists yet will justify her own blatant racism as “well deserved”. If you go through life always negative and full of hate, looking for something to complain about, that’s the world you’ll create around yourself. If that’s what you want to see, you’ll see it regardless of the truth and you’ll find a way to make it a reality. You create your own world.

Also, I beg her to please do some research – and practice some responsibility – before writing such absolute nonsense again. Here’s a few articles, from far more prestigious sources, that obliterate her theory. They all took less than a minute to find. The truth’s available if you’re actually interested in it.

Samantha Diaz seems to suggest that Asian women do not count as non-white people and that their health doesn’t matter. She also suggests that black women are incapable of understanding which health guidelines are beneficial or appropriate for black women. One wonders if Diaz is herself black and, if not, why she feels it is appropriate to speak on behalf of black women, who are apparently unable to do their own health research.

It’s one thing to point out that milk has been adopted by some as a symbol of white nationalism. It’s quite another to argue that Federal dietary guideline are subtly racist.

Milk is for many, including minorities, a nutritious beverage that includes loads of calcium. Some people need more of it than others, and despite generalities by ethnicity, there are people withing different segments who benefit from more calcium as kids and as they age.

The Maasai of Africa had traditionally tended cattle and did quite well on a diet of milk mixed with carefully tapped blood from their herds.

So I say three cheers for milk for those who like it. It’s better than soda by a long shot.

The main problem is, I literally can’t tell if you’re kidding or not. If this is satire, I can but apologize for not catching it. Poe’s Law has been stretched to its functional service capacity lately. So the following may just come off as the ramblings of an old man who doesn’t get jokes, but I’ll try to make it interesting anyway.

The Alt-right (a term here which now means “Nazis” and other groups have been appropriating innocent and innocuous images and symbols to use as secret signs for their aims forever. I recall as a child there were ever rumors that driving with your lights on (or off) was a sign that you were in some group or gang. Heck, “gay” used to mean “happy and carefree” – that may still be the first definition in the dictionary, but not in most people’s minds.

(BTW, You could have also mentioned Hans Landa drinking milk in the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds if you wanted to more closely connect the dots)

The thing is, that does not automatically make that action or thing hate speech. Somehow, Pepe the Frog went from harmless little internet meme to being inextricably linked to hate speech. I’m still shaking my head over that one. So I can tell you that I’m not planning on giving up drinking milk for fear someone will think I’m a Nazi.

So if anything, their choice of that item points more to how insidious groups like that are. And we simply have to make clear to them and to all and sundry that said appropriations shall not stand.

It’s when you start trying to ascribe malice to the federal dietary guideline that things start to come off the rails. To draw a connection from voter ID to the FDA recommending the drinking of milk is, at best, a stretch. The Mother Jones article you mention (but do not link to – got an href handy?), if valid, is likely recently discovered information, and probably still being investigated. Also, you specify that it concerns Africans, and NOT African-Americans. that’s certainly possible – if milk (specifically cow’s milk) is not a staple of diets in an area, it’s very possible that the people in the area would not have evolved (or have lost) the capacity to derive nutrition from it. It’s one of the claims made about gluten – some claim that wheat is so new (cosmologically speaking) to the human diet, some don’t have the capacity to process it, hence the sensitivity.

But nobody’s claiming non-preferential treatment of people with gluten issues when companies keep telling the world that cookies are yummy.

I’ve probably wildly over-analyzed this. But I’ve seen too many articles like this, claiming that thing x or thing y are now a sign of racism, or that since things may have once had racist histories, they are still racist, and shame on you for using them (See the words “treadmill” and “cakewalk”). And many of them are either trying too hard to make people feel guilty for actions that had no desire to “mean” anything negative, or they’re written by people who themselves feel guilty for no sufficiently adequate reason, and feel that guilt must be shared. This one isn’t as bad as the people who claim yelling “Hip Hip Hooray” at a party or kids playing “Eenie Neenie” are racists, but unless the intent is made clear, that’s the message people will get a couple rounds of telephone later.

(Also, small nitpick – it’s “The Museum of the Moving Image”, located in Astoria Queens. It’s right next door to the studio where they film Sesame Street, which has no connection to anything, it’s just cool)

First of all, prostate cancer is slightly higher among African-American men to begin with, just as blacks are more likely to have sickle-cell anemia and Jews are more likely to get tay sachs. To then extrapolate that someone saw this and decided to push milk on black people regardless of the implications…that’s a week bit of a stretch.

Also, it’s “disproportionately,” not “unproportionally” – which leads me to my next point: I sure hope no tax dollars went to fund your education. If so, I want my money back.

This is a distorted narrative of what happened at HWNDU.

There was ONE GUY who showed up drinking milk from a glass jug. I think it was unpasteurized. The guy is known as ‘Milkman’ and milk is about all he drinks. He also believes in eating uncooked meat. He’s a bit strange and once ate raw cow brains from a butchered cow head with a spoon at a Vegan rally. His catchphrase is ‘Down with the Vegan agenda’. Video of his stunt at the Vegan rally is here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q5JukUxlC0

Not knowing what to make of this Milkman character or why he was drinking milk – idiot HWNDU supporting SJWs decided (wrongly) that this milk drinking must be a covert form of expressing White Nationalism.

Thinking this ridiculous allegation was quite humorous, 4chan ‘s#!tposters’ live-trolling HWNDU decided to run with this stupid new narrative to mock the snowflakes triggered by a guy drinking milk.

These 4chan types delight in offending the overly PC precious snowflakes by embracing the very smears the SJWs spew at those they disagree with (racist, sexist, Nazi, Islamophobe – whatever). They think it’s funny – and to an extent it is.

…but that doesn’t make them racist, sexist, Nazi Islamophobes. It just makes them 4chan s#!tposters who elevate their status among other 4chan s#!tposters with high profile live-trolling incidents.

There were 2 people who showed up and went shirtless who do appear to be White Nationalists. Those 2 admitted as much. While I don’t agree with their views, like many, I see little difference between them and Black Nationalists like the New Black Panther Party and some elements of Black Lives Matter. They are different sides of the same offensive coin – but if you denounce one you must denounce the other. If you support one, you must support the other (at least if you were fair you would). Elevating one side while denouncing the other only legitimizes others who do the same.

Back to the ‘milk is the new swastika’ nonsense – this is the work of SJWs looking for things to be offended by. They got offended by milk (for no reason) and 4chan trolls took their silly, ignorant fake outrage and embraced it in mockery. Milk as a symbol for white nationalism is a troll job. Nothing more.

This is the most Rediculous piece I’ve seen. This author exemplifies the concept of ” if you’re obsessed on looking for something, the. You will find it. ”
I would argue that author is the actual racist. Bc they seem to find racism everywhere. Even Milk. Something that has been used by humanity for hundreds of years. The progressives have now convinced themselves that being white, or anything associated with the color or race is inherently racist. Not only that, they have justified thier irrational racism and hatred by attempting to change the definition of “Racism” to exclude the word “Race” by declaring that it’s about “power”. And then, following the broken logic that “white people” are in power, therefor you can say what you want about them without consequence. In fact you are justified. This is something George Orwel wrote about called “DoubleSpeak”. ( do they even teach Orwell anymore”).
It is now justified, and encouraged, to silence any opposition of ideas by intimidation or force. It is justified to censor speech, and literature in the guise of “not offending” or having it labeled “hate speech”. And the truley ironic thing is, these are actual tenants of fascism. ( the very thing progressives say they are fighting )
Racism is on the rise, but it’s coming from “progressives” like this author. Fascism is creeping through. But again, it’s coming from progressives.

Being in the U of C system

  237. Avatar

Milk is not a “sign” of anything, nor is it racist in any way to promote drinking it. I think you have a misunderstanding about what the word “racist” means.

To say that the benefits of milk may be greater for one race over another is not really fair. Take a look at some of the documented facts regarding milk:
Calcium is not exclusively associated with osteoporosis and bone health, but is important in many other aspects of human health, including maintaining weight, healthy heart muscles, healthy pH levels, control of blood pressure, prevention of kidney stones, among others. Milk (and other dairy products) is well-known as a good source of calcium, and has been shown to be superior to taking calcium supplements.

If there are idiot individuals who wish to use milk as some sort of symbol of their “whiteness”, that’s on them–it does not mean the rest of us need to acknowledge their idiocy or accept their symbology. In fact, isn’t it better to ignore such things and carry on our day, drinking milk as we see fit? By acknowledging any such alleged symbol, we are merely playing in to their game and giving them power. Just like the taunting bully on the playground, ignore it and it will go away.

If it had been something other than milk that these people had used, would the message still be the same? What if it were white flour? How about Elmer’s Glue? White Kleenex Tissue? If I tilt my head just right and squint my eyes, I’m sure I could find racist messages in a piece of white chalk. But what would be the point? This urge to somehow “ban all the things” and blame whitey for it isn’t beneficial to anyone. Rather than trying to make racial divides even bigger, can’t we just try to live together–regardless of our color?
