While I understand President Alexander’s frustration with state funding (“New year, new cuts”, 8/30 Daily 49er) it needs to be pointed out that the state Assembly rejected many of the governor’s proposed budget cuts to safety net programs, and also blocked his plan to eliminate Cal Grant scholarships, which would have placed those at Cal State Long Beach in even more dire financial straits.
