ESPN to give LBSU national coverage

Thanks to a conference title and a berth in the 2011 NCAA tournament, the Long Beach State men’s basketball team will appear on ESPN networks three times this year.

The 49ers’ Jan. 30 matchup with UC Santa Barbara and Feb. 13 rivalry game with Cal State Fullerton will be televised on ESPNU and a March 7 game at UC Davis will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The bleachers promise to be packed for each of those games and the rest, as more than 90 percent of last year’s season ticket holders have renewed their seats for 2012. Season tickets went on sale to the general public in mid-July for a home slate of 14 games including the two televised games with UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton and a matchup with national power North Carolina.

LBSU opens its season on Nov. 11, when it faces North Alabama during homecoming.
