Long Beach State women’s soccer misses conference tournament for first time since 2004

The 49er women’s soccer team fell to Cal State Northridge, 1-0, Sunday at Matador Soccer Field, ending its season with an eight-match winless streak.

CSUN struck in the 11th minute when Heidi Farran retrieved a pass from Farryn Townley and beat ‘Niner goalkeeper Emily Kingsborough from three yards out.

Beach midfielder Lindsay Bullock led all ‘Niner players with four shots, two of which were on target. Shawna Gordon and Karina Camacho tallied two shots apiece.

LBSU outshot the Matadors 12-8 and held a 4-1 edge on corner kicks, but was shutout for the 10th time this season, including five times in eight Big West Conference matches.

The 49ers (5-11-3, 1-6-1 Big West) finish tied for seventh in the Big West and will miss the four-team conference tournament for the first time since 2004.
