New top assistant signed

Former Southern California and UC Irvine assistant John Hawks was hired as the top assistant for the Long Beach State men's volleyball team on Wednesday. Hawks is also a member of the USA Volleyball national coaching staff, where he has worked with 49er head coach Alan Knipe.


Women's volleyball

'98 champs coming back to The Beach

The undefeated 1998 national champion women's volleyball team will be recognized during intermission between set two and three, when the current LBSU team hosts UC Davis on Oct. 24 at the Walter Pyramid. The '98 team, led by senior setter and National Player of the Year Misty May, finished 36-0 to complete the first undefeated season in NCAA history.
