Its summer in autumn and CSULB students are feeling the heat! While many of us are confused as to when the sweater weather will begin, Isabelle Tcheng, a first-year student, knows exactly how to prepare for the blistering heat.
I found Isabelle on her way to the parking lot and the first thing that caught my eye was her bright, red sneakers. A great way to make any outfit pop is a splash of color. Be daring in footwear!
Shoes can become a statement piece with any outfit, especially when paired with an otherwise muted color palette. Being that campus footwear needs to be functional and fashionable, try to find a pair that catches the eye with color rather than a skyscraper heel. The best way to do this is by simply finding a colored sneaker!
Isabelle also displays the recent fashion trends in her cutout, muscle tank. Cutouts can elevate any top from casual to trend-setting. A cutout, muscle tank can be paired with virtually any bottom. A plus about muscle tanks: they are designed for comfort during hot weather.
What I love most on Isabelle’s muscle tank is that the cutouts are on the back. It’s a true peek-a-boo moment when cutouts are placed discreetly in the back! Without the cutouts being too revealing for school wear, cutouts in the back of a shirt is flirty way to stay casual.
As of recently, acid wash jeans have made a comeback. Both high-end and affordable retailers are stocked with 80’s fashion trends. While the neon colors from the 80’s can be overwhelming, acid wash jeans are suitable for even the most timid student.
Acid wash jeans come in a variety of shades but the shade Isabelle chose is perfect for a variety of looks, as well as many different body types. Lighter acid washed can make legs appear shorter, whereas Isabelle’s acid wash has more muted bleach stains and darker tones.
My advice to fellow CSULB students is to throw an accent color into all muted outfits. Just because the cold seasons may call for neutral colors, a pop of bright color can bring any outfit to life!
