Lock losers

Lt. Richard Goodwin of the University Police said that a bike was reported stolen Wednesday from the bicycle racks between Liberal Arts buildings 4 and 5. The victim parked the bike at 1:30 p.m. and noticed that it was gone at 4:30 p.m. The bike owner described the bike as a “specialized mountain bike” valued at $4,500-5,000, Goodwin said. Goodwin also said that the cable lock securing the bike was missing as well.

The victim of another bike theft reported theirs stolen near building D of the Hillside Housing Complex on Sunday morning. The owner described the bike as a Diamondback Response XE worth about $400, Goodwin said. Goodwin said that the bike was secured the night before using a cable and a U-Lock but was not registered with the campus police. There are no suspects or leads, Goodwin said.

Another bike theft occurred on Thursday between noon and midnight near the University Student Union. The bike is a Fuji estimated to be worth $1000, Goodwin said.

Blu-ray blues

On Monday, a report was filed about a Blu-Ray/DVD player stolen from an office in the College of Business Administration. The video player is black and estimated to be worth $150, Goodwin said. Currently there is no suspect information available, Goodwin said.

Visiting high school student welcomed by computer thief

A high school student visiting the CSULB campus on Saturday had his laptop and bag stolen in the University Telecommunications Building. Goodwin said that the student was on campus for a high school debate and misplaced his bag in the restroom. The Dell laptop and the Timbuk2 messenger bag are estimated to be worth around $100-300, Goodwin said.
